Lactation Skills Day

This training is an in-person, hands-on day focused on practical breastfeeding support skills. Interactive skills stations include understanding breastfeeding pumps and aids, responsive feeding, and in-depth practice of latching and positioning. Participants will explore reasons and solutions for low milk supply, painful latch, supplementation, delayed onset, and slow weight gain.

This training is an in-person, 8-hour skills day with a 1-hour lunch break and two 15-minute breaks.

4.25 L-CERPs and 2.0 R-CERPs contact hours have been approved. Participants must complete an online evaluation to access their attendance certificate with CERPs.

This course is available to CPAs, RD, RNs, and lactation staff who have completed Level 3 training Minnesota and Level 4 training in Wisconsin.

  • Describe in detail how to latch and position an infant for optimal breastfeeding.
  • Identify three (3) strategies to support continued breastfeeding after returning to work.
  • Summarize how to use and maintain a breast pump.
  • Describe proper breast pump flange fitting for optimal breast milk expression.

This training is a full-day in-person skills day. The registration deadline is August 1, 2026.

All registrants will be placed on a short waitlist until approved by the Midwest region breastfeeding coordinators.
