This course is available to WIC peer counselors, CPAs, RD, RNs, and lactation staff in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin (peers not eligible). It is a Level 3 or 4 one-day advanced lactation training and some states may require staff to have completed a Level 3 training before being eligible, as having advanced breastfeeding credentials (CLS, LCE, CLC, ILC) will help with comprehension of the advanced topics taught in this course.

Due to high demand, this year’s OA Grant trainings will be limited to primarily WIC Staff. For more information, please contact MWRtrainings@mphi.org.

  1. Identify common chronic maternal and infant medical conditions that impact lactation.
  2. Explain how the parental diet may affect milk quality.
  3. Discuss the evaluation of a breastfed or human milk-fed infant who is growing slowly.
