Ethics and WHO Course

This course will meet the IBLCE CERP exam requirements for Ethics and WHO. IBLCE required as of October 2024 all applicants have 2 hours of WHO education. This course will meet these requirements. LEC has presented these in a prerecorded form with great feedback. In this new format the topics will be presented with discussion with live presenters for a more interactive course

  • 10:15 a.m.–11:15 a.m. — Becoming: Working Our Way from Novice to Expert in LC Practice
  • 11:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m. — Can I Say That? Ethics for the LC in Digital Spaces
  • 12:15 p.m.–12:45 p.m. — Lunch
  • 12:45 p.m.–1:45 p.m. — Is Your Cup Half Empty? Preventing Burnout in a Caring Profession.
  • 1:45 p.m.–2:00 p.m. — Break
  • 2:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. — Why Now? The Importance of the WHO Code in Current Media Marketing.

This course is available for any staff requesting additional continuing education in Ethics and the WHO Code in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.

Due to high demand, this year’s OA Grant trainings will be limited to primarily WIC Staff. For more information, please contact MWRtrainings@mphi.org.

  • Identify ethical practices for the LC in a digital environment.
  • Describe 3 examples of visual media violating the WHO Code will affect parent feeding choices.
  • Develop three new strategies for developing ethical practice.
  • List four methods to prevent burnout as a lactation services provider.

The deadline for registration is two weeks before the start of the training. All registrants will be placed on a short waitlist until approved by the Midwest region breastfeeding coordinators.
