Confidence in Counseling

This 4 hour live virtual training will help WIC staff communicate with families about breastfeeding, identify the cause of conflicts and learn how to resolve them and build a strong connection with the client. They will also learn techniques to help the mother build a strong connection with her baby.

Please note, this training’s curriculum closely aligns with Michigan WIC’s Breastfeeding Basics.

4 L-CERPs will be provided. Participants must attend the live, virtual session and complete an evaluation to have access to their CERPs.

For information on which IBLCE categories are covered in the OA grant-funded trainings, please see the IBCLC CERP Guidance document.

This course is available to any WIC staff in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota or Wisconsin.

Due to high demand, this year’s OA Grant trainings will be limited to primarily WIC Staff. For more information, please contact MWRtrainings@mphi.org.

The participant will be able to:

  1. Use the L.O.V.E. method of communicating with parents to promote breastfeeding.
  2. Identify and promote evidenced-based maternity care practices that support successful initiation of breastfeeding, such as skin to skin and feeding on demand.
  3. Implement ways to support and build a healthy attachment between moms and their babies.
  4. List common conflicts in clinics that may arise when working with breastfeeding clients, as well as strategies to use to address these issues.
  5. Identify the way that stress impacts the body in the first 6 weeks of breastfeeding.

Once registered, all communication will come from Full Circle Life Coaching at FCLCHelp@gmail.com. Please direct all questions or concerns to this email address and be on the lookout for communication from this address as well.  There is no fee for this training.

In the event you need to cancel or reschedule a training, please email MWRtrainings@mphi.org.

This is a live, virtual interactive training so participants need a computer with good internet, Zoom, and camera (phones are not sufficient for this type of training). There will be access to support materials available through the online platform, Thinkific.
